ECORE Obtains Patent for All Laminated Interlocking Surfacing Systems
ECORE International, a company that transforms reclaimed waste into unique performance surfacing, is proud to announce it was issued U.S. Patent #8,728,260 from the United States Patent and Trademark Office on May 20, 2014 for laminated interlocking surfacing systems with a recycled rubber backing. These products are created using ECORE's itstru technology, a process that takes a wear layer and fusion bonds it to a 98-percent recycled rubber backing. The patent encompasses products in ECORE's ECOsurfaces, Everlast Fitness Flooring, and Knot Carpet brands.
"This patent covers the methods and processes associated with the manufacture of ECORE's revolutionary itstru technology interlocking flooring systems," said Arthur Dodge, III, CEO and President of ECORE International. "This process incorporates the lamination of a wide spectrum of recycled underlayments to an almost infinite variety of wear layers, including rubber, vinyl, cork, artificial turf, carpet, and linoleum, as well as woven and non-woven reinforcing layers."
ECORE has always been an innovator when it comes to performance surfaces utilizing waste materials. This new patented itstru technology reinforces ECORE's commitment to modular and, virtually, self-installing, adhesive-free performance flooring systems.
"The recognition by the U.S. Patent Office of the uniqueness of our processes and their applications is not the end of our journey, merely the end of the beginning," said Dodge. "Our ability to incorporate a virtually limitless stream of recyclable, post-consumer waste into performance surfacing systems opens the door to an endless array of surfacing solutions for both commercial and residential consumers."
